Also called the Union 36 or the Union Polaris 36. A stretched version of the Hans Christian 34. A few were built under this name, but soon the boatbuilder started marketing the design through dealers as the Mariner Polaris 36, Union 36, EO 36, Mao Ta 36, etc.

Heavy displacement boats do not accelerate as quickly, but they do maintain their momentum (read apparent wind) longer and that′s a good thing.
